World Pilot Gig Championships 2011

Congratulations to all crews that took part and represented the club at the 2011 World Pilot Gig Championships. It was a big weekend for the club with the launch of our new boat Cormoran on the Friday. The launch went fantastically well with a great turn out of club members. The forever crew took her out on her maiden voyage from Port Loo around to town beach on St Mary’s. She is a fine piece of craftsmanship and the club wishes to extend its thank once again to Peter Martin and his team for making such a beautiful boat.
Ladies Vets A – Did amazingly well on the Friday night with the Cormoran’s first race. They rowed a tough race from St Agnes to cross the line in second. They received their silver medals on the Sunday.
Men’s A – Once again maintained last years position of third.
Ladies A – 7th, Ladies B – 26th, Ladies C – 42nd, Ladies D – 110th (123 entrants in the ladies).
Men’s B – 36th, Men’s C – 96th (124 entrants).
Ladies Vets B – 43rd, Men’s Vets – 43rd.
