Retiring Chairwoman celebrates twenty five years of service to Mount’s Bay Pilot Gig Club.

Mrs. Zoe Payne received a bouquet of appreciation from the members of Mounts Bay Pilot Gig Club at their AGM at The Queens Hotel Penzance this week. To say she is a stalwart of the club is an understatement. She has been involved on the committee in a variety of roles for over twenty-five years, the last five of which she has given as Chair. Although retiring from her role as the clubs Chair, she still intends to continue in her role as Novice Coach and as the club’s Disability Officer. She was presented this distinctive bouquet of flowers in recognition of her unfaltering dedication to gig rowing and to promoting Mount’s Bay Pilot Gig Club worldwide. Over the years she has helped steer the club into the position as one of the most respected and admired gig clubs in the whole south-west region. Her role of Chair now passes into the very capable hands of Mrs. Tracy Tonkin who herself has been gig rowing for over 25 years and has been with Mounts Bay Pilot Gig Club for over twenty of those years. 2018 will be a big year for the club. With plans to re-site their boat storage shed and aspirations of a new Gig, there will certainly be a lot of work to be done by the new committee. Mount’s Bay Pilot Gig Club is already training for next season so if you are interested in learning more about gig rowing you don’t have to wait till the spring, simply visit their website and get in touch at www.mountsbaypilotgigclub.org
