Heritage Project
3
April
The children from Marazion and St.Hilary Schools are having great fun learning all about gigs and their history. Here they are helping to make a curragh which, when finished , they will row to St. Michaels Mount. It was thanks to the Big Lottery Fund that we were able to run this project.

The next Heritage ‘Giggle Club’ will be on the 26th April at St Hilary school. The A crews which will be rowing in our new gig ‘Cormoran’ will be meeting the children to answer any questions the children have for them.
On Tuesday May 10th (weather permitting) the giggle club will be finishing their Curragh and launching it from the beach at Marazion. Everyone is welcome. It will be from 9am -approx 3pm.
A visit to the Mount to learn about the old Mount gigs is planned for the 17th May.
The children will be visiting Scilly on the Saturday of the World Championships weekend and will be cheering for the club from the support boats.
As part of the project they would like to do some short interviews with anyone who has been invloved with gig rowing for a number of years or if you know anyone who is going to Scilly who might be interesting for the children to interview then please let me know on mountsbaygigclub@gmail.com
Any old stories would be great.
