Mount's Bay Pilot Gig Club

Cornish Indoor Rowing League- January Challenge

Results are in for the first challenge in the series, with 38 people completing the December challenge, rowing the length of the Tamar Bridge.

We had a variety of entrants from several CPGA clubs, individuals, juniors and a leisure centre. Helston have really led the way with leisure centre involvement – with their participants giving gig club rowers a run for their money! This challenge series is all about getting more people rowing, and mapping that participation regionally – you don’t have to be an ergo king/queen to take part. It’s also about giving people new challenges to keep those gym sessions interesting.

I’d like to build upon this and get as many entries as possible for the January challenge, 30 mins which is a tribute to that road we all know and love(!). This fits in well with the recommended guidelines of 5 x 30 mins of activity a week, so please encourage as many people as possible to take part! This is also a great opportunity to set a new challenge for 2012!

FAQ’s:

·         Do I have to live in Cornwall? – No, this is a Cornish themed league aimed to get as many people taking part as possible, you will see where people live on the results so if you want to see how you did against Cornish people, you can!

·         How do I enter? –Several Cornwall Council linked gyms have log cards, posters and trained staff who can help you complete and log results, if your centre does not or you are using club / personal machines, just take a snap of the screen on completion and email to Rhiannon.halliday@britishrowing.org

·         What info do I need to give? – Along with a snap of your screen, your name, DOB (to compare with other rowers of a similar age), email address (to receive results – this will not be displayed on the results sheet), postcode (for me to map participation – will not be displayed on results), your club/gym and your result.
